I've just read Whyte's fight has been called off

He's done that on purpose mate, Fury has to fight him now or vacate. No risk to Whyte at all anymore

Re: Fury v Wilder 3
fair enough

to be fair i think there's more depth to this era than any others for a very long time, but with no outstanding champion. The 90s was fucking shit, but Lennox elevated that generation. There's no one at his level now.

Crassus

For me AJ should never have gone to McCraken in the first place. I don't know any improvements he's ever made. He's a "one size fits all" coach, he doesn't look at a fighters attributes and weaknesses and work out a style/game plan He just coaches everyone the exact same way and that god awful pad work, where he jumps in and walks off turning his back like he's a superstar is cringy as fuck, that's not the purpose of pads.

AJ's footwork and movement could and should have been worked on years ago, but he's not as bad and the Fury fanboys would have you believe, as should getting the right weight for him, not going up and down like he does. It's to late now to make the changes that were needed to reach his full potential, but they can still be done to some degree.

I'd have liked to have seen him go to Virgil Hunter, as right now, its all in AJ's head, he's completely gun shy and Virgil is great and work with peoples heads.

I meant well managed in its literal sense
Don't doubt his comparative resume is stronger but I refer to the commercial and persona positioning through what was a weaker era
Nothing wrong with that, but that an income to ability ratio has rarely been so well served

Re: Fury v Wilder 3
still Fury's mandatory so hopefully he'll get his shot unless Fury doesn't fancy it.

Although the WBC is such a fucking joke these days I wouldn't be surprised if they find a way around it yet again.

Shame for him, that. Seems like every time he's near a title fight, it then gets further away.

Re: Fury v Wilder 3
The accusation that Joshua has been 'well managed' or is a hype job is a little unfair, for me. Suspect driven by a dislike of hearn and the fact that he has a marketable image compared to most.

In the past 6 years he's fought, and beaten, far better fighters than wilder and fury. Might sound harsh on fury given the battering he's given wilder, but the list of names that wilder has beaten in title fights is barely above UK domestic level. In fact, some of them have lost to people at that level. Which - along with being a massive cunt - is why no one in America bothers to follow him

CS

I'm interested to in your technical appraisal of AJ - genuine question

For me, and I have said it throughout his career on here, his lack of foot movement is exceeded by his total absence of upper body mobility - which makes him a static target for a more fluid or range based fighter

For sure he carries power, has a wonderful upper cut and is a lethal finisher, also throws hurtful combinations at good speed
But, at the highest level, the intimidation of those assets would be offset by a boxer who would not put himself at risk and in doing so expose his weaknesses

He also carries a lot of muscle, so however fit, has to tire. So evade early bother and by round five he is yours if you are of sufficient quality

Not stating the obvious after his loss, I've always said so, a good fighter, well managed through a period of opportunity

So how would you suggest he could overcome those inherent flaws against the very best?

Re: Fury v Wilder 3
Well it looks like AJ has finally got someone new in, its 3 years to late though.

Yarde lacks the killer instinct and the "lions in the camp" doesn't sit with how he actually fights.

Re: Fury v Wilder 3
I tell you who could do with a new coach, Anthony Yarde. Come across as a decent geezer but is hampered by a collossal helmet in his corner. After yesterday's press conference, Pat Barrett should have been allowed 2 minutes in a locked room with Tunde, would have done Yarde a favour.

"Ali prob was greatest of his era but his methods of boxing were not clever. He took alot of damage and died from it."

That right there is why I can't even be bothered. You are basing Ali's career on one fight. You think he did rope a dope his whole career.

I could pull apart the rest, but to be honest, it's pointless, you have your opinion and you are of course, entitled to it, but for me, you don't know the first thing about boxing.

2 titans gave it a real show worthy of the hype, wasn;t even interested in it until the week running up to it, 5 knockdowns and just pure grit with both men showing they really are warriors.
Looking forward to see how Usyk fares against the others in that division.

As an aside after reading some comments on here.

I don't think I've ever hated a sportsman in this world that I haven't met more than Prince Naseem Hamed when he was at his pomp.
That Barrera night is up there with some the greatest of sporting events ever, or Tottenham losing to an unfairly granted injury time penalty.

Tell me why Joe Frazier was one of the greatest heavyweights to walk the earth without saying it was a golden era. Tell me what his qualities were when he stepped up in class that makes him a great without resorting to nostalgic comments or abuse towards me and then as you describe him, try and compare him to a fighter in the modern day with his style. MODERN day not 80's.

Re: Fury v Wilder 3
Well Pentonville.... the thing is CS has walked the walk so he probably has a better understanding of the pugal arts than most... and I imagine calling one of the finest heavyweights ever to jump in a ring a `punch bag` then you can expect a bit of a verbal backlash... and the end of the day you should have been around WHO long enough to know what this place is like... If I am being honest I think CS is going soft in his older age ... SWT !!!

Re: Fury v Wilder 3
No wind up.
It's a legitimate opinion. Very sad that people can't have a debate without throwing insults which I didn't do.
I said I don't think Ali is greatest of all time. Of his era maybe but if all time no. I discussed why I think Ali was watched and why he was was so famous and I don't think it was all about his boxing.
I was praised by a few for a good post even if they didn't agree.
My point is that era is only looked on as great mainly by people who lived through it and my point is you can't compare each era and who is to say which is better. I do not rate Joe Frazier. No I don't. I believe nostalgia has a part to play in it all. Like comparing Pele to Ronaldo. I gave my points. Ali prob was greatest of his era but his methods of boxing were not clever. He took alot of damage and died from it. I compared thir opponants and dispute that it was a golden era. Perfectly rounded and formed opinion that I was enjoying debating until that CS comes along and says I know fuck all about boxing and tries to end the debate and now u pipe up saying I'm fishing. Why? Cos I don't agree?
Is my view Naz or the Four Kings also rubbish too? Is my points about Benn crap also? Read the entire thread. I dare you. CS COMES IN like an uninvited guest and starts piping up. So fuck him. Sod you for thr fishing comment. I'll leave it there, leave u all to your boxing thread which I was rather enjoying and heavily participating In to keep me interested in life!
